After a decade of working together in the hair industry, Michael Kuhn and Maria Norman-Gallagher decided to partner upfor a new business venture. The decision came after both stylists became inspired to elevate the customer service standard that their industry had set. So in 2004, after a lot of hard work and planning, Salon Thalia was established. "We really wanted to bring customer service to the forefront of our craft", owner Michael Kuhn replied when asked what made them want to start this business in the first place. "It is a sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that we are constantly out-performing the old standards and overcoming the mediocrity that's easy to get thrown into in this industry." And so it was; a contemporary, upscale gallery hit the scene catering to Philadelphia's finest. "We have a dedicated and hard working team with us, and when you own your own business, nothing is better than that", creative director Maria Gallagher added. After being at the Curtis Center building on the north side of Washington Square Park for over 9 years, an opportunity sprung up to re-locate the salon to the trendy Rittenhouse Area of Center City and after working out a few kinks, this location has been up and running since the beginning of 2013. The new spot has allowed them to spread their wings and expand their clientele, and that spells nothing but success for Salon Thalia.
